Why do I need to obtain a receipt? What's my signature used for?

When you complete your final income tax return, you may claim medical expenses deductions to obtain refunds on some of your paid income tax. Receipts also are used to check to confirm that the amount billed to the Health Insurance Association matches the actual amount paid (amount eligible for insurance). If the amounts do not match, they need to be investigated immediately. There also is a need to check whether the details of medical care actually received are written correctly on the application form. For example, you should check whether the numbers of days you visited the judotherapist and the locations of injuries treated are correct.
Be sure to sign the Application Form for Medical Care Expenses after checking its details. The person receiving treatment entrusts the judotherapist to bill the IBM Japan Health Insurance Association for costs.
