Can I use health insurance to pay for acupuncture, moxa cautery, or Japanese traditional massage?

You can use health insurance to pay for treatments for acupuncture, moxa cautery, Japanese traditional massage, or other massage only after a physician authorizes such treatment.*
You can use acupuncture or moxa cautery for neuralgia, rheumatism, cervicobrachial syndrome, stiff and painful shoulders, lower-back pain, and aftereffects of cervical sprain, and you can use Japanese traditional massage or other massage for paralysis and articular contracture due to causes such as cerebrovascular accidents.

* You must pay the entire amount at the facility yourself. Apply to the Health Insurance Association thereafter for a refund of part of the cost.
