How are National Health Insurance premiums calculated?

National Health Insurance premiums are calculated based on insured person's income, assets, number of family members, and other factors. However, several different combinations of methods apply, depending on municipality. The maximum (annual) amount of premiums also varies with the municipality. In addition, once you reach the age of 65, your insurance premiums may drop significantly due to eligibility for tax deductions. You should take this into account when deciding which system to join. For more information, check with your municipal government's National Health Insurance counter.
