Inform the reception counter at the medical care institution that you are in the process of switching health insurance cards. Some medical care institutions will allow you to present your new health insurance card at a later date for ordinary insurance processing. If the institution does not allow this, do the following:
Pay the entire amount up front, then request reimbursement for the health insurance portion (70%) from the Health Insurance Association.
Obtain a receipt (original) and medical cost details (rezept) from the medical care institution. Read the notes on payment of medical care costs up front on the application and list of application documents, then apply using the Application Form for Medical Care Expenses.
